Lazy on Windows Can't Spawn Git

Hello!

I am new to neovim and have been loving Lazy.nvim on my linux box, but when I try to use it on windows I get an error that it failed to spawn the git command. Also in the Update tab of the Lazy UI it says Branch Failed. I have "git version 2.40.0.windows.1" installed and git also works from the pwsh prompt. Any ideas what I could try next to get Lazy back up and running?

Yes I can. I've uninstalled lazy.nvim, neovim, and git and reinstalled them through multiple means (ie. via choco, winget, and downloading the installer from the internet.) Obsidian.md seemed to lose track of the git executable in the whole process, and I had to hard code the path to the exe. is there a way for me to show neovim where the git files are manually?

Another thing that I've noticed is that I get these .cloning files in the Lazy nvim-data directory. The Files are all empty.

I also have the same problem but only recently as far as I can tell after restarting since I wanted to re-install some Mason plugins that were not updating correctly and then blocking the io.

git works(version 2.35.1.windows.2)

I have no idea tbh. Lazy uses vim.uv.spawn. The error you get is when the spawn fails. It's not possible to get a better error message from libuv.

is there a way to test libuv?

ok, I found a fix for this problem. weirdly, it did not work with git on the path. but after starting IntelliJ it also said that it could not find git or that it was not installed and offered to install git. and it did.
this was the version it installed and it worked:

so it might have been a path issue and can be fixed with a clean reinstall or update of your git instance.
